The German Global Bridges delegation visits the GYLD Secretariat
On October 23, 2024, a delegation of Global Bridges from Germany, consisting of more than 30 German political and business people, visitedCenter for China and Globalization (CCG) and Global Young Leaders Dialogue (GYLD) Secretariat and exchanged views with CCG researchers, special guests and members of GYLD Secretariat on China-Africa cooperation and China-Europe economic and trade cooperation.
Mabel Lu Miao, Secretary-General of CCG, Founder and Secretary-General of GYLD, first extended a warm welcome to the delegation and briefly introduced the research results and practical experience of CCG in the field of China-Europe and China-Africa cooperation in recent years. She highligted that with the deepening of globalization, China, Europe and Germany have great potential in collaborating on global challenges, promoting economic globalization and deepening bilateral cooperation.
Hans Albrecht, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Global Bridge, expressed his appreciation for the CCG's hospitality and expressed his hope for further cooperation in policy research, corporate exchanges and youth leadership training in the future.
During the discussion, the two sides first held in-depth discussions on China-Africa relations. Gou Haodong,former Deputy Representative of the Chinese Mission to the African Union, CCG Senior Research Fellow, and Mr. Andreas Lammel, former Member of the German Bundestag and Consultant on strategic issues of Global Bridge, shared their views respectively. They expressed their views on the cooperation between China and African countries in infrastructure construction, medical and health care, scientific and technological innovation and other fields.
Subsequently, the two sides held in-depth discussions on bilateral economic and trade cooperation between China and the EU and between China and Germany. Martine Dornier-Tiefenthaler, Managing Director of DPV Capital Germany, and Dr. XU Zhaoying, Assistant Research Fellow of Institute of European Studies at China Institute of International Studies, WANG Caixiao, CCG Non-resident Fellow and Associate Professor of Beijing International Studies University, shared opportunities and challenges in promoting sustainable economic and trade development between China and Europe and between China and Germany.
During the interactive session, members of the Global Bridge delegation actively interacted withCCG on issues such as the status of CCG, China's policy towards Africa, China's international communication and image building, China's development status and China-EU relations in a friendly atmosphere.
Global Bridges is a non-profit, non-partisan organization based in Berlin that builds bridges between different countries, camps, cultures, young professionals and senior professionals. The founding chairman of the association was involved in promoting the first batch of Sino-German investment cooperation after the reform and opening up, and has organized annual delegations to visit China since 2005 to learn about China's economic and social development. This year, members of the Global Bridge delegation include senior and young professionals from German politics, business, law, finance and other fields
